RAW ØBLATIONS 4 presents: ERIC SCHLAPPI - CONTAMINATED

"Contamination is part of an ongoing audiovisual collaboration between Eric Schlappi and Bastien Lavaud and a practice of intentional modular synesthesia. Each element of the music is cross patched with each other, letting the drums, bass, and lead voices merge and morph together. The visuals are also modular based, taking signals from the audio side of the system and through free improvisation feeding back into the composition of the piece.

The primary sound sources are Schlappi Engineering synthesizer modules (performed by Eric Schlappi) and the accompanying video leans heavily on Syntonie video modular (also performed by their designer, Bastien Lavaud.

The patches used in Corridors and Slicers are an evolution of a live piece performed at Modular Square in Paris in 2022 and the track Contamination is a recording of the first jam between Eric and Bastien a year earlier in Grenoble, France."

Eric Schlappi is not only musician but also the driving force behind Schlappi Engineering, the maker of some of the fiercest and rawest sounding electronic instruments of our time.
